GR management into PA plans

The management plan of the PA should be adapted to ensure active conservation of the CWR resource.
In practice it is usually modest

  • Good way to minimize the costs of a GR operation
  • These sites already have a long-term conservation ethos
  • Relatively easy to adapt the existing site management to facilitate genetic conservation

Considerations

  • Long burocracy associated to amendments or renewal of existing management plans
  • Effects on: zoning of the PA, sectorial plans (e.g. visitor management), conservation plans of emblematic species
  • Increased management costs
